I’m always amazed when a band covers a fantastic song and makes it better than the original. Menahan Street Band took Go Outside by the Cults and turned it into solid gold for the holiday season. That xylophone!
The good news? Menahan Street Band just so happens to be playing with Charles Bradley this Friday night at the Great American. Despite this storm, looks like I might have to (horrible pun alert) go outside.

Support gay marriage, because this is entirely accurate. Except the going to the gym part. #pinkberry anyone?
This just in my inbox: Lauryn Hill just added an intimate show to her bay area appearance - playing at the Indie on Sunday. But before you get TOO excited - tickets are starting at $99 and while yeah, experiencing her classics in my favorite SF venue would be dreamy, personally I’d rather spend that on some yoga pants (or since it’s November maybe some holiday gifts? Get with it, Al).
But.
Remember how good this song was? is?
She’s also opening for Nas on the 19th at the Fox in Oakland. Tickets are more reasonable starting at $49 - probably because no one’s listened to Nas since middle school. But hey, One Mic was a good song.
