Fillmore Jazz Fest and other reasons to drink wine this weekend
Festival Season continues this weekend with the Fillmore Jazz Festival. Located on the better half of Fillmore, this one is free and fun - but think of this one like going to your in-laws for dinner. Sure you can drink, but you don’t want to be the guy to pull a Will Farrell/Old School/horse tranquilizer scene and scar the children for life (which sadly, is something you could potentially reserve for Outside Lands and you’d get high-fived, bro). It’s not that kinda weekend. But it is the perfect festival for a stroll in the streets and some afternoon dancing. From noon to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, they’ll have 4 stages placed along Fillmore street at California, Eddy, Sutter and O’Farrell with quite the line-up of Jazz artists and swing dance lessons. Expect jazz hands, old men on saxophones, more old men trying to get you ladies (yes, you) to dance on the streets (Jump in! It turns out they’ve got actual, Casablanca moves). An abundance of artisan foods (which just means fancy and overpriced…but delicious and #instafoodgram worthy nonetheless), street vendors loaded with hats, jewelry and/or San Francisco screen printed T’s and a lot of wine. Fingers crossed for some sunshine but it should be a nice little jazzy weekend.
Then there’s Treasure Island Winery’s Midsummer Rosé Event! And if you don’t know me, there’s two things I have a weakness for: Treasure Island and Wine. Although I play major favorites to cabs and merlots, I do encourage the exception of whites & pinks for daytime drinking and/or concerts. It’s sip-able for long periods of time, doesn’t put you to sleep or turn your mouth 50 shades of gross and can be quite refreshing. I mean, it’s like alcoholic capri sun. Clearly, I don’t market for them. Nor do I know a lot about Rosé, but I do know I’d like to. Tickets are only $15 to enjoy a flight of Rosé while hanging out at Treasure Island for the day.
What else do you got going on this weekend, SF?
